Facebook Hackers
Facebook is beginning to crack down on the security of the site to due to increase of hackers. Facebook has expanded its security team by about ten percent recently because the site is having problems with lots of unsupported spam.
The team has made it relatively easy to identify where the attacks are coming from even if they aren't able to identify the exact person who is initiating the attacks.Facebook has integrated its security incident response team with its law enforcement team to help protect the safety of all users.
On the technical side, Facebook has automated systems that detect when someone is using the site in a way that is different from the normal user. When a user logs in from an unknown location Facebook automatically checks, by asking a question, to see if it is actually the user. These measures have helped slightly to prevent unknown log ins.

Cyberstalkers
Everyone has that person that they really don't know that well, or at all, and they still insist on commenting on every single post, status, or comment you make. At first it may seem funny or cute, but there has to be some point where it become just annoying. If you wanted only them to comment on it you would have posted it in THEIR wall. Not your own or another mutual friend's wall.
This may seem harmless, but it you honestly don't know the person, you would probably want to consider blocking them , for your safety. If they can see all your information and seem to be completely infatuated with you, that could quickly to into a situation of ACTUAL stalking. Putting personal information online is a horrible idea and it would be very easy for your online stalker to find your school or even address and just go for a drive one day to come and meet you. It is a very scary reality if you think about.
If you do know the person that is constantly comment on all of your postings, you should confront them and tell them that they are completely annoying you. Or if you are a less aggressive person you could just delete it them and let them figure out why you did it. It shouldn't be hard for them to figure out if they are commenting on everything you post!
This video is a skit about Facebook and stalkers! It is one of the funniest videos i have seen in a long time.

Social Networking Break Ups
Break ups are hard enough as it is. Being broke up with via social networking websites is even harder. You have to then change your relationship status and have 5,000 people comment about how sad it is. Obviously you know that, you are the one who was broken up with.
Once you are broken up with instead of discarding all of the pictures that you and your partner were in together, you have to sit one the internet untagging yourself from 3,000 pictures. And then delete every picture that has even a trace of them off of your page.
Instead of just avoiding your ex- you then get all of his or her statuses to your phone because you still haven't changed the settings. You then get to know how they are having such a fantastic time and makes you want to eat even more ice cream.
It's bad enough after a break up having to see your ex occasionally, but seeing pictures of him or her makes it incredibly hard. Then you see a new partner with your ex and you then spend 7 hours Facebook stalking them, googling them, and checking youtube for any embarrassing facts that will make you feel better about yourself. It is a fact that 60% of people Facebook stalk their exes.
After the break up, seeing that your ex hasn't posted anything makes you very worried. What could they possibly be doing that he or she doesn't even have time to update their status. Which will eventually lead to more ice cream and man-hating movies.
This video is a simulation of situations that are associated with relationship problems caused by Facebook.

Things to Hate about Facebook
There are always things about Facebook that drive people crazy. I'm going to make a list of the 10 most annoying things about Facebook because after all, there are some very agitating things.
5. Simply liking a status, then receiving 95,000 notifications about comments about the status. I didn't care enough to comment on it so why would I want to know what other people are saying about it?
4.Having people I met one time when I was 5 add me as friends and then comment or like every single status I post.
3.When someone invites me to an event that I have no way of going to. After I moved out here, I now live about 7 hours from home. There is no way I'm going home just to watch someone's band play for 30 minutes.
2. Leaving my Facebook up and someone changing my status to something that is absolutely ridiculous! Seriously, if I left it up around you, I obviously trusted you, way to go...
1. FARMVILLE. Enough said.
This video is hilarious! It was put on youtube by Julian Smith. It is his list of 25 things that drives him crazy. So true!

Internet Addiction Disorder
Addiction to the internet is becoming a rapidly increasing disorder that is claim the social lives of many. It [Internet Addiction Disorder] is a psycho-physiological disorder involving tolerance, withdrawal symptoms, affective disturbances, and interruption of social relationships.
The video above is pretty funny and accurately depicts the symptoms of Internet Addiction Disorder.
Many people allow the internet to take over their lives so badly they can't even function to take care of their basic needs. They let trash pile up near their computer and they get very attached to their computer to the point that they will lash out at the first person that tries to get them to do anything besides play on the computer.
There is a great deal of anxiety associated with IAD. People make themselves sick because they are so anxious to get an email or instant message. This disorder is a severe condition that is sweeping all of the world.
When therapists treat individuals with this condition, they treat them like they would any other addict. They need to find what triggers the start of the computer-usage binge so that they can stop that from happening.
The therapist encourage the patients to just NOT use the internet for awhile until they have their problem completely out in the open. The best way to avoid these problems is to only use the internet if it is an absolute need to use the internet.

Share Selectively

It has become apparent that people in present-day society love to share every intimate detail of their lives on their Facebook, Myspace,or Twitter profiles. After all, this is what we have been trained to do from childhood-share. But there is a certain point when one needs to just keep information to themselves. Many individuals are having trouble finding the line that makes the distinction between internet safe and just flat out stupid to post online.
When one creates their page, they are given options about who they would like to allow access to their page and the user has the option at any time to block a fellow user who they feel are acting inappropriately towards them. Many users are not aware of this function or just chose to ignore that it is there.
Another problem that can quickly arise, is individuals confirm others as "friends" without really knowing who they are. This is extremely dangerous, but it happens on a daily basis. If the individual would only confirm friends they actually knew, it could greatly reduce their chance of having problems with cyberstalking, hacking, and cyberbullying.
It is always a good idea to keep your personal information off the internet. Anyone can get their hands on it if they really have a desire to do so.

Draw to Social Networking Websites
The initial draw, for most, to the social media sites is the accessibility to friends and family that one is not normally able to communicate with.
an easy way to see a how friends/family are doing through pictures, relationship status, etc.
Another significant draw to the sites would be the ease of meeting new people for dating purposes. Some people see the dating sites, such as e-harmony.com, are degrading or embarrassing. Using a site like Facebook, which many married and single adults use, to meet others who have similar feelings about the sites.
Social networking sites are a way for teenagers to escape the stress of school and parents and have sometime to chat with multiple friends simultaneously. Facebook has became a way for teens to know everything about their friends. While it can be a little invasive at times, the websites are often helpful to relieve stress.
Some of the jobs in today's society require to have a large client el base.
A good way to get your name out there is by having a profile strictly for work which possible costumers could see your credentials as well as some about the user as a person. The social media sites are much easier for prospective client el to get to know the producer rather than having to call around.

Myspace vs Facebook

Myspace and Facebook were at one time, both very popular and were in close competition for the number one spot of supreme social networking websites. Currently, Facebook has roughly double the amount of users that Myspace does which is incredible, considering Myspace had more just around a year ago. Myspace seems to be becoming obsolete in today's society. So what is making Facebook so much more desirable?
Currently, 1 of every 5 people who use the internet use Facebook on a regular basis. One of those reasons, is people see Facebook as being a safer alternative to Myspace because it has "better" security settings. Since the Megan Meier Controversy, which occur through the use of Myspace, many individuals are thinking twice about how safe Myspace is for themselves and their children.
Another deal breaking factor that plays into the choice of which site you want your profile on is the demographics. Myspace was created for younger teenagers, another reason why it is dangerous (perfect place for predators to meet trusting teens), while Facebook was constructed with college age students in mind. Now it is becoming more equaled out with teens but professional seem to favor Facebook much more than Myspace because they still see it as a place for teens.
Facebook featured thousands of applications. These applications range from your fortune to games. One could take that however they want. Some of these applications are ridiculously addicting, where on Myspace one wouldn't have that problem because they don't feature similar applications.
One aspect that Myspace does have Facebook beat in, is the layouts. Facebook doesn't offer the option to change your layout, despite what those annoying group invitations say. There are ways to customize your profile by placing results of quizzes and other applications on one's profile.
SPAM! Facebook users have much less trouble with spam issues than the users of Myspace. No one wants to deal with constant spam; it is annoying. It seems much more easy to have your profile on Myspace hacked as well, compared to Facebook. Who would want to have ALL of their personal information somewhere that it could be easily hacked.
All things considered, I see Facebook as a much more useful site and that makes sense due to its huge amount of users!
I don't know if it works, but it must be fairly easy if someone can do it 3 minutes 40 seconds!

Being Immersed in Social Networking Environment: Facebook Groups, Uses and Gratifications, and Social Outcomes

While I was perusing the internet the other day, I found an article, "Being Immersed in Social Networking Environment: Facebook Groups, Uses and Gratifications, and Social Outcomes" by Namsu Park, Kerk Kee, and Sebastian Valenzuela in a magazine called Cyberpsychology and Behavior. This magazine is extremely pertinent to the topics around the ethics of using social networking websites.
The article that I found from this magazine was based off a study that was conducted to determine Facebook users’ gratifications, and the relationship between users’ gratification and their political and civic participation offline.
The study revealed that there are 4 primary categories in which users groups fall into. The four groups are socializing, entertainment, self-status seeking, and information.
The study was conducted on college-aged students, so for the more "recreational" categories (socializing, entertainment, self-status seeking) were used much more in comparison to the informational usage.
When it came to the informational usage, the groups were formed mostly for political reason, like research for upcoming elections. Most college students are not very interested in political issues so that makes sense as to why it is the least used type of group on Facebook.
