Regulating Harassment: Is the Law Fit for the Social Networking Age?

When browsing the internet recently, I found a very interesting article, "Regulating Harassment: Is the Law Fit for the Social Networking Age?", by Neal Geach and Nicola Horalambous which I found in the Journal of Criminal Law through EBSCOhost.

This article focuses on the law aspect of social networkig sites. There have been instances where people have been made victims on these websites. Due to the massive increase of individuals who use social networking websites, there have been an increase in the amount of crime realated to the use of the social networking websites.

There is not a lot of legislation that protects people from the horrible consquences, such as cyberstalking and cyberbullying. Individuals cannot be completely safe when using these websites if there are no set consequences for when they are made victims.

Most experts say it would be much easier to find technologic solutions rather than have legislation to uphold the laws because it is harder to trace and hold them accountable throuh the law.
