Myspace vs Facebook

Myspace and Facebook were at one time, both very popular and were in close competition for the number one spot of supreme social networking websites. Currently, Facebook has roughly double the amount of users that Myspace does which is incredible, considering Myspace had more just around a year ago. Myspace seems to be becoming obsolete in today's society. So what is making Facebook so much more desirable?

Currently, 1 of every 5 people who use the internet use Facebook on a regular basis. One of those reasons, is people see Facebook as being a safer alternative to Myspace because it has "better" security settings. Since the Megan Meier Controversy, which occur through the use of Myspace, many individuals are thinking twice about how safe Myspace is for themselves and their children.

Another deal breaking factor that plays into the choice of which site you want your profile on is the demographics. Myspace was created for younger teenagers, another reason why it is dangerous (perfect place for predators to meet trusting teens), while Facebook was constructed with college age students in mind. Now it is becoming more equaled out with teens but professional seem to favor Facebook much more than Myspace because they still see it as a place for teens.

Facebook featured thousands of applications. These applications range from your fortune to games. One could take that however they want. Some of these applications are ridiculously addicting, where on Myspace one wouldn't have that problem because they don't feature similar applications.

One aspect that Myspace does have Facebook beat in, is the layouts. Facebook doesn't offer the option to change your layout, despite what those annoying group invitations say. There are ways to customize your profile by placing results of quizzes and other applications on one's profile.

SPAM! Facebook users have much less trouble with spam issues than the users of Myspace. No one wants to deal with constant spam; it is annoying. It seems much more easy to have your profile on Myspace hacked as well, compared to Facebook. Who would want to have ALL of their personal information somewhere that it could be easily hacked.

All things considered, I see Facebook as a much more useful site and that makes sense due to its huge amount of users!

I don't know if it works, but it must be fairly easy if someone can do it 3 minutes 40 seconds!
